Velu Kumar a/l Suppan, 54, has won a brand-new Kia Picanto as the Grand Prize Winner of the lucky draw held in conjunction with the Malaysia Autoshow 2018 organised by Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI). The prize giving ceremony was held today in MAI headquarters in Cyberjaya.
Mohd Sazali bin Mohamed Amin, CFO of MAI presented the lucky winner his keys to his new prize, a Kia Picanto 2018. The offering of the grand prize was witnessed by the Malaysia Autoshow Organising Chairman, Yamin Vong.
Velu Kumar was one of the many visitors who attended the fourth edition of the annual Malaysia Autoshow at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from 26th to 29th April 2018.
“The new Kia Picanto is timely as my current car is quite old. I look forward to using it as my daily commute to work in Subang Jaya,” said Velu Kumar, who currently resides in Kajang.
“I feel very happy to have received such an opportunity to win the grand prize of this lucky draw. It’s not normal for someone to win a prize such as this. I have to also thank my son, who is a car enthusiast, as it was because of him I attended the Malaysia Autoshow 2018,” he said.
The winner added, “The Malaysia Autoshow gives the public an opportunity to know the latest cars that are available in the market. More importantly, the Autoshow enables potential car buyers to test drive a wide range of cars, allowing them to personally gauge the value and performance of the car, which is what I personally did as well”.
“I would like to thank MAI and the organizers of the Malaysia Autoshow 2018 for giving me this opportunity”, he expressed.
Various activities were held during the Malaysia Autoshow 2018 ranging from exciting off-road courses, Karting Experience, and test drive sessions. For the first time in its 4-year journey, the Malaysia Autoshow provided visitors a glimpse into the future and how the automotive industry plans to take the world head on to be a globally competitive player in transportation, more specifically in mobility through the Intelligent Mobility Experience (IMEX). IMEX provided a first-hand experience on the elements of future employment and business opportunities, in sectors such as, smart manufacturing and connectivity.
The Malaysia Autoshow 2018 was moved from its usual November slot to April, taken out of the busy year end schedule of major international motor shows around the world, to increase possibilities for more attractions to be brought into the show in the future. Future plans include an extension of the show duration from 4 to 10 days, and increasing scope of exhibits to include concept cars, advanced mobility, immersive lifestyle experiences and diversification of automotive technology into various sectors within the Malaysian economy.
