MALAYSIA AUTOSHOW 2017 – SHOWCASING ENERGY EFFICIENT MOBILITY FOR ALL

Serdang, 9 November 2017 – Malaysia Automotive Institute has taken a step further this year by taking Malaysia’s largest annual autoshow to a whole new level.  Malaysia Autoshow 2017, with the theme “Smart, Safe and Sustainable Mobility” takes place from the 9 – 12 November, from 10am until 9pm at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS).

The new home of the Malaysia Autoshow 2017 is the show’s largest ever venue, placed on 368 acres of land. The larger area has allowed MAI to bring the first autoshow in Malaysia that also features a symposium and music festival – Kuala Lumpur International Automotive Symposium (KLIAS) and SoundValley Festival 2017, taking place concurrently in the same location.

The opening of Malaysia Autoshow 2017 was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on 9 November 2017.

Malaysia Autoshow 2017 brings in more excitement this year, with a total of 170 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of automotive technology products and services – allowing motor enthusiasts to gain an insight into the products and services that are being offered by their favourite brand. Car brands of all market segments have shown tremendous support with a full turnout at this year’s edition of the Autoshow.

This is a must-attend event where visitors can test drive different models of cars from various brands, in search for their ideal car. The test drives take place on a 3 km test route, so visitors can truly experience the models they are testing.

MAI Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Madani Sahari said, “Since the NAP 2014 was announced, the automotive industry has seen an unprecedented level of consumer choices in car purchases. The Malaysia Autoshow 2017 is testament to our commitment to showcase mobility solutions that are increasing in fuel efficiency, safety, and security”.

Visitors with a taste for higher end models have a golden opportunity to experience a ride in a Bentley Bentayga or Ford Mustang GT 5.0 for the distance of 3km around the event location for RM30 only.

Visitors can also catch a Toyota 4×4 taxi ride, an activity specially designed for adventurers seeking an extreme off-road experience. There will be merchandise and souvenirs by the Land Rover Owners Club of Malaysia on Friday and Saturday, as well as night barbeques and a screening of adventure expeditions by Malaysian off-roaders.

For those who love motorsports, Karting Slalom is one of many outdoor activities during the event on 11 – 12 November from 9am to 6pm, with a fee between RM10 and RM30 depending on age group. This activity is available for children aged 8 and above.

Visitors interested in automotive technology can gain insight into Honda SENSING for a better understanding of this advanced automotive safety technology at Honda Malaysia’s interactive booths.

For those who wish to know more about the Malaysian Insurance and Takaful Industry regarding Phased Liberalisation of the Motor and Fire Tariffs that have taken effect should join us in the autoshow as well.

To excite the visitors further, Peugeot 208 PureTech worth RM89,888 is set to be given away to a lucky participant who purchased the RM10 Autoshow entry ticket. Participants can enter their secret number on the Malaysia Autoshow app (downloadable for both iOS and Android devices) and answer a few simple questions to be eligible to win. Malaysia Autoshow 2017 tickets are available through airasiaredtix.com as well as at the event ticketing booths during Autoshow hours.

Vehicle Inspection is an important aspect of road safety, and car owners need to know the requirements of a car that is fit for safe use on the road. For this reason, Car Care Week will continue to feature at this year’s Malaysia Autoshow. All visitors will be given an opportunity to enjoy a 39-point car inspection, for free, during the event.

“One of the key components in bringing the Malaysian automotive industry to global competitiveness is the participation of the Malaysians in the industry, either directly as a member of the automotive fraternity, or indirectly as consumers, with the culture, interest and awareness in efforts towards sustainable mobility”, said Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“I hope that the awareness and experience gained from the Malaysia Autoshow 2017 can instil the culture, interest and appreciation towards automotive technology and manufacturing. More importantly, this awareness will spur our efforts towards environmental friendliness and fuel efficiency, and will garner more support from the people for Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs)”, he added.

EXPERT AUTOMOTIVE INSIGHTS FROM INTERNATIONAL SPEAKERS

Running concurrently with the Autoshow is the Kuala Lumpur International Automotive Symposium (KLIAS 2017). KLIAS 2017 takes place in conjunction with Malaysia Autoshow 2017, on 8 – 12 November in Hall D2, MAEPS Serdang from 9:30am to 5pm.

KLIAS 2017 is an annual meeting of global automotive professionals and players in Malaysia.
